Maneesha (7 for 49) bowls Royal to an innings win over Devans

Left arm spinner Maneesha Tantrigoda took a match bag of eleven wickets as Royal College cruised to a rousing innings and two run outright victory over Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Tantrigoda followed up his four wicket haul in the first innings by returning outstanding figures of seven wickets for 49 runs as Maliyadeva College were bundled out for 153 in their second attempt. He brought his season’s wicket tally to 97 with this performance.

Earlier Royal went on to extend their first innings lead to 155 before declaring their innings at 333 for 8 with Madushan Rajaratna stroking a splendid 117.

Maliyadeva: 178 and 153 (V. Nuwan 24, N. Karunaratne 26, C. Edirisinghe 26, M. Tantrigoda 7 for 49).

Indunil wrecks Joseph Vaz

Left arm spinner Indunil Kumara claimed a match bag of ten wickets to steer Mahanama College to an innings and 42 run outright victory over Joseph Vaz College in their inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match which concluded at Wennappuwa yesterday.

Mahanama: 289

Joseph Vaz: 100 and 147 (S. Thalhara 32, V. Bimantha 48, V. Nadeera 21, R. Welikannage 4 for 44, I. Kumara 6 for 57).

Pasan rescues Thomians

Opener Pasan Wijewardena hit a fighting half century as S. Thomas’ College forced a draw to their rain hit inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match against St. Peter’s College which concluded at Mount Lavinia yesterday.

S. Thomas’: 235 and 121 for 4 (P. Wijewardena 51, K. Perera 42, C. Peiris 2 for 25).

St. Peter’s: 325 for 7 decl (A. Berenger 137, S. Fernando 51, A. Emmanuel 54, A. Fernando 34 n.o., N. Wickremasekera 5 for 110).

Dilshan takes 6 for 77

Left arm spinner Dilshan Perera captured six wickets for 77 as St. Benedict’s College took first innings honours over D. S. Senanayake College in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which ended in a draw at Kotahena yesterday.

St. Benedict’s: 317

Maris Stella takes major honours

Opener Angelo Jayasinghe hit a top score of 93 as Maris Stella College took major honours in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Thurstan College which ended in a draw at Negombo yesterday.

Thurstan: 152 and 148 for 3 (U. Munasinghe 90, S. Kamileen 33 n.o.).

Maris Stella: 259 (A. Jayasinghe 93, D. Shanaka 31, P. Jayamanna 54, R. Wijewickrema 4 for 45, R. Salgado 3 for 22).
