Several leading Buddhist Prelates yesterday called on all political parties and all sections of society to rise above petty differences and unite to extend their cooperation and encouragement to the President and the Government to take the country forward on the correct path.

Opposition Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka yesterday filed an Election Petition in the Supreme Court seeking a determination that he be dully returned as the President of the country.

Unanimous resolution :

BASL condemns protests and demos near SC

The Executive Committee of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka at its meeting held on February 13 unanimously passed a resolution condemning the recent protest march and demonstrations conducted in the vicinity of the Supreme Court premises and within the Superior Courts Complex.

Maha Sangha Convention postponed

The Maha Sangha Convention that was to be held next Thursday at the historic Maha Maluwa of the Sri Dalada Maligawa has been postponed indefinitely, the Chief Prelates of the four sects of the Buddhist clergy said in a statement in Kandy yesterday.
