Four years Rigorous Imprisonment, fine for causing grievous hurt

Kandy Provincial High Court Judge Preethi Padman Surasena imposed four years' Rigorous Imprisonment and a Rs. 10,000 fine on an accused who pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous hurt to his wife's head with an axe. The Judge also imposed another three months imprisonment in default.

The accused is Gabadage Anura Perera, 40. The incident had occurred on April 28, 2004.
