The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Trade Fair Unit which has led missions to over 30 countries, organized a Business Promotion and Fact finding mission to Bangladesh, in association with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) recently.

This is the first occasion the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organized a mission with the support of the EDB. The main objectives of this mission was in addition to promotion of two way trade, investment, services and tourism, to further explore the potential available for our products in the Bangladesh market. The mission was organized to coincide with the Dhaka International Trade Fair 2010.

The delegation had varied interests from promoting traditional value added and organic tea, rubber, coconut products and spices to non traditional products such as cables, adhesives for packaging, label pasting paint binders, writing instruments, Sanitary Napkins, Baby Diapers, Bubble Gum, Photo Albums and Diary Covers. There was also substantial interest in imports from Bangladesh and Joint ventures for establishment of a Rubber Mill and Flexible Packaging Industry in Bangladesh.

The delegates had the opportunity of sourcing for counterparts in Bangladesh through the meetings arranged by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Sri Lanka - Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SLBCCI).

The mission leader Tufail Salie commenting on the visit stated 'I came across many reputed organizations on the look out for Sri Lankan business partners, mainly because the Sri Lankans are respected for their commitment and honesty by the Bangladesh community.
