CCC Bangladesh mission nets results
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Trade Fair Unit which has led
missions to over 30 countries, organized a Business Promotion and Fact
finding mission to Bangladesh, in association with the Sri Lanka Export
Development Board (EDB) recently.
This is the first occasion the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organized a
mission with the support of the EDB. The main objectives of this mission
was in addition to promotion of two way trade, investment, services and
tourism, to further explore the potential available for our products in
the Bangladesh market. The mission was organized to coincide with the
Dhaka International Trade Fair 2010.
The delegation had varied interests from promoting traditional value
added and organic tea, rubber, coconut products and spices to non
traditional products such as cables, adhesives for packaging, label
pasting paint binders, writing instruments, Sanitary Napkins, Baby
Diapers, Bubble Gum, Photo Albums and Diary Covers. There was also
substantial interest in imports from Bangladesh and Joint ventures for
establishment of a Rubber Mill and Flexible Packaging Industry in
Bangladesh.
The delegates had the opportunity of sourcing for counterparts in
Bangladesh through the meetings arranged by the Dhaka Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Sri Lanka - Bangladesh Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (SLBCCI).
The mission leader Tufail Salie commenting on the visit stated 'I
came across many reputed organizations on the look out for Sri Lankan
business partners, mainly because the Sri Lankans are respected for
their commitment and honesty by the Bangladesh community. |
