NTC Ranking tourney:
Shehan wins two titles at Negombo

The sport of Tennis, is one amongst other things that Negombo is
famous for.
The Negombo Tenis Club, has stood for many years, with a commendable
history of its own all this did give rise to very promising tenis
players, and club was and is still patronised by lawyers, Doctors
Businessmen and yet others.
The keenness and enthusiasm displayed by the players and committee of
the NTC, led to the SLTA, renovating and refurbishing existing buildings
and constructing new ones. Not forgetting to mention the pleasing to the
eye, new courts that have come to be. It easily provided a fine
background for the holding of Negombo C grade ranking tournament under
the auspices of the SLTA.
It was held on the first week of February 02 and concluded on Sunday
February 07.
There was much excitement and eagerness amongst the participating
juniors and seniors as they went through their preliminary rounds,
quarters and semifinals.
Girls who impressed in the under 12 singles were Hasindi Lokuge,
Jayatham Nawaragoda Gedara Dilane Perera, Gaveshini Abeygunawardena,
Rukshana Abdeen, Sadamali and Wadeege.
Girls who did well in the under 14 singles Thewuni Devaraj, Kavindya
de Silva, Hashinde Lokuge and Nethmi Waduge.
Girls who did well in the under 18 singles: Vinuri Wickremaratne,
Kavindya de Silva, Nilusha Fernando and Indeewari Wijesekera.
Boys who impressed under 12 singles: Joshua Jayaratne, Sabri, Silva
and Nazar.
Boys who stood in the under 14 singles: Nadaraja, Samarasinghe,
Perera and Abeywardene.
Boys who did well at the under 10 singles: Perera, Jayasekera,
Wijebandara and Kostwatte.

Girls Singles: Under 12 - Nethmi Waduge bt: Hashindi Lokuge 6/1, 6/2.
Under 14 - Kavindya de Silva bt: Nethmi Waduge 7/6 (6) 3/2.
Under 18 - Nilushi Fernando bt: Kavindya de Silva 7/6 (6) 3/0.
Boys singles
Under 10 - Avinda Perera bt: Vibuda Wijebandara 9/0.
Under 12 - Joshua Jayaratne bt: Nadir Nazar 6/2, 6/3.
Under 14 - Nishangan Nadarajah bt: Avishka Perera 6/2, 6/3.
Under 18 - Shehan Gomesz bt: Nishangan Nadarajah 6/2, 6/4.
