Caltex honours star partners
Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, the marketeer of Caltex, Havoline and
Delo brands in Sri Lanka honoured their most outstanding performers from
the Caltex channel partner network for the year 2009 at the Caltex Star
Partners Night awards held recently. The Caltex channel partner network
spans an islandwide network of X-Press lubes, Star Lubes and Delo
service stations.

These Caltex branded service channels are geared to provide customers
a quick and enhanced lubrication service. They are designed to offer
motorists a professional and reliable vehicle servicing experience,
while ensuring the safety of service station staff and convenience of
customers while being environmentally friendly. Business partners are
equipped with the required tools, skills training, technology and
knowledge on an on-going basis, by Chevron to ensure that the overall
industry standards are elevated.
Eighteen Caltex service stations, of the network were awarded for
excellence in performance on a series of criteria including adherence to
standards specified by Chevron in aspects of vehicle servicing, customer
service, health, environment and safety.
Makumbura Service Station, Pannipitiya, which was the Best X-Press
lube National winner, Gunadasa Auto Traders - Nuwara Eliya, the Best
Star lube National winner, Auto care Service Centre, Akuressa, the Best
Delo Service Station National winner were awarded by the Managing
Director/CEO Kishu Gomes on this occasion. Chevron also recognized the
Wasana Speed Service X-Press lube for eight years of partnership and
status as the first X-Press lube operator in Sri Lanka.
As part of the program, all staff in the winning service stations
will be rewarded by Chevron for their vital contribution towards the
success of each service station.
"We are proud to have revolutionized the automobile servicing
industry in the country by elevating the standards to international
levels", said Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC Managing Director and CEO
Kishu Gomes.
"Through initiatives such as the Annual Caltex Channel Partners

customers when they patronize our Caltex branded channels", he said.
OMC Asia Cup Open 2010 in Sri Lanka
Organization Mondiale Coiffure (OMC) Asia Cup Open 2010, which is one
of the largest hair events in the Asian region, and worldwide, will be
held in Sri Lanka this March.

The event, organized by the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers and
Beauticians (SLAHAB) will be held at the Cinnamon Grand on March 7 and
8. This occasion will bring together the professionals of the hair
dressing industry from all over the world.
Over 15 countries will be partaking in the competition including
Japan, South Korea, Philippines, India, China, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
The competition will be sponsored by the following brands on the
following aspects: City and Guilds (education), Nature's Secrets
(Professional skin care range), Pro Sport (gel) and L'Oreal (Hair colour),
Glamours (professional equipment supplier).
The competitive categories will consist of ladies and gents
hairdressing, stage make-up, fantasy hair styles and nails. Providing
space for the younger generation of the industry to showcase their
skills and talents, a junior category is also open where participants
under the age of 25 can compete. Also, as a result of a special request
made by SLAHAB Founder President Nayana Karunaratne, for the first time,
the OMC Asia Cup Open has added bridal hairstyle and make-up categories
for the competition.

Culinary Art 2010 presented by the Chefs Guild of Lanka is one of the
prestigious events in the culinary calendar.
Sri Lanka's biggest food and hotel show concluded at the BMICH.
Hilton Colombo - Sri Lanka's Leading Business Hotel awarded at the
World Travel Awards bagged yet another award as The Most Outstanding
Hotel Team and The Most Outstanding Culinary Team as well as the hotel
who won the most number of gold medals.
The total number of medals won for Hilton Colombo was 51.
Chefs from various hotels, bakeries and restaurants participated in
this four day event.
First started in 1993 and held every other year, the competition is
acclaimed to be the most eagerly awaited event. This year there were
1650 food entries with 1100 chefs representing 121 hotels from all over
the country.
BOI fetes former official
Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Deputy Director General L.D. Dickman
(BOI) retired in January 2010. Dickman was one of the Board's senior
most officers with 30 years of service and was responsible for the
management of the BOI's entire infrastructure, notably its 12 Export
Processing Zones.

He also played an important role in the development and promotion of
new export processing zones of the BOI.
Dickman began his career with the BOI on August 1, 1979 as a Manager
and was one of the first staff members to join the organization that was
known then as the Greater Colombo Economic Commission. He has held at
the BOI the positions of Manager, Senior Manager, Director, Executive
Director and finally Deputy Director General.
Dickman's main contribution to the development of the BOI was his
active role in formulating policy and directing the development of the
infrastructure of Sri Lanka's Export Processing Zones. Furthermore he
has represented Sri Lanka at many international conferences, seminars
and symposiums on the subjects of Zone Development, Infrastructure
Development and Promotion.
At a recent ceremony held at the Head Office of the BOI, the
Management and Staff honoured Dickman for the long and the unforgettable
service he rendered to Sri Lanka's investment promotion agency and for
his immense contribution to the field of investment.

internationally acclaimed advertising agency network Leo Burnett
Worldwide, appointed Chrishani Kotalawela as Chief Operating Officer of
Leo Burnett Solutions Inc. (LBSI) and Amrita Peiris as General Manager,
Publicis Solutions.
Leo Burnett solutions Inc. Managing Director Ranil de Silva said it
personally gives him great pleasure to promote the people whom he has
groomed over the years to play important management roles. He said that
he was confident that it will mark a renaissance for the company and its
future. Chrishani was previously the General Manager for Arc Worldwide
Sri Lanka, a company which she nurtured to leadership from its
inception. Ms. Kotalawela who has been with LBSI from its inception, has
over ten years of experience in Brand Management and Integrated
Communications. She has also been extensively trained locally and
internationally by the company. She is currently completing the Leo
Burnett University's MMP program.
Amrita who has also been with LBSI for over seven years, accounts for
many years of experience in the communications industry. She played the
dual role of being Director Brand Operations at LBSI and she also
functioned as Brand Director for the Publicis Company upon its entry
into Sri Lanka in October 2008. |
