Kandy Natha Devalaya Viharaya Nenasala:
Computer course students receive certificates
Thirty two Nenasala computer course students received certificates at
a Nenasala in Kandy recently. When the Natha Dewalaya Viharaya Nenasala
Centre held its first certificate awarding ceremony last Saturday.
Among those who received certificates at the ceremony, the Chief
Guest of which was Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa were
children, and middle level and advanced level students who had completed
the relevant courses at the Nenasala.
Participating at the ceremony the manager of the Nenasala, Ven.
Etipola Mahinda Thera recounted the history of this Nenasala which was
inaugurated in 2004 by the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
ICTA Project Manager Gavashkar Subramanium explained how the
Nenasalas, the brainchild of President Mahinda Rajapaksa had been
instrumental in bringing the dividends of ICT to all, especially the
rural youth. Gavashkar said that the Government was working on the
target of implementing 1000 Nenasalas islandwide in 2010.
Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadhassi Thera, Ven. Gomagoda Rathanasara Thera,
Ven. Polonnaruwe Upali Thera, Ven. Narampanawe Ananda Thera, Kandy Mayor
L.B. Aluwihare, Kandy Divisional Secretary Bandara Thennakoon and Natha
Dewalaya Basnayaka Nilame Ananda Thennakoon, also participated in the
event.
Meanwhile an ICTA-initiated model Nenasala stall at the District
Secretariat building in Pallekele, Kandy forming part of 'Deyata Kirula'
gave the visitors to the exhibition an experience of the benefits
available at the 600 Nenasalas islandwide.
