Old Nalandians play softball cricket for a worthy cause
The Old Nalandians Sports Club which has over the years helped the
College in all their sporting activities have organized a series of
softball matches to be played at the Bloomfield Grounds on February 7.
In addition to the matches arranged for those under 40 ,over 40 and
over 50, it will be a day filled with fun for members, their families
and well wishers who are invited to join in and have a good time. In
recent times the funds that were available to help the sports activities
of Nalanda have been dwindling and Chairman, Organizing Committee of Old
Nalanda Sports Club Mahinda Athulathmudali, has organized the softball
matches to get the members and their families together and map out
strategy to collect funds.
It is a worthy cause and Athulathmudali is confident that all old
boys, their families and well wishers will come in their numbers and
help in this worthy cause.
Incidentally Athulathmudali was one of the best off spin bowlers to
come out of that school and was unplayable during his time which was the
sixties. He also played for Saracens and had he continued in the game
instead of making it to Canada could easily have sported the national
cap. |
