Police seize stolen jewellery

Chilaw Police arrested a man and seized a stock of jewellery stolen by him from a neighbouring house using an improvised key. This incident had occurred at Wella area in Chilaw and the jewellery seized were worth Rs. 336,800.

The modus operandi of the suspect had been to stealthily enter into the neighbouring house on every Sunday morning when the inmates left home to attend the Sunday Mass at the church and remove the jewellery from the almirah using a false key on several days.

The owner had later found that her jewellery were missing and informed the police. Chilaw Police is conducting investigations.
