Congratulations and best wishes to a great leader and a great
Statesman, President Mahinda Rajapaksa, on being elected for his second
term which is a very valuable and crucial period for him.
We respect him for his sincerity and honesty exhibited during the
past four years of his service to the Sri Lankan nation and admire and
appreciate his courage, wisdom, patience and most of all his true
patriotism to Mother Sri Lanka and all her children and treating them
all alike.
I am sure he will perform well in his effort to uplift the standard
of living and develop the country and bring peace and harmony to all Sri
Lankans by uniting all, irrespective of any social differences.
Also congratulations to the voters who have placed their trust, faith
and hope in President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Mahinda Chintana.
The Sri Lankan voters have demonstrated that they are well matured in
Sri Lankan politics now and used their wisdom and courage to elect the
incumbent President for the second term.
We salute them for showing their true patriotism and for giving a
strong message to the international community that they are behind the
President for what he did to eliminate the scourge of LTTE terrorism and
his current and future programs of development work, uplift the living
standards, elimination of corruptions and finding a real solution to any
outstanding ethnic issue.
May God bless him, keep him in good health, guide him and protect him
always.

I never doubted the victory. You are a mass hero for routing out
terrorism and terrorists. I never accepted the LTTE as the
representative of Tamils so far in my life. At the same time true
democracy should prevail.
Here after take the country on a constructive path, not into
destructive one. Don’t alienate the Tamils, the fellow citizens from the
main stream. After a gap of 30 years democracy returned to Sri Lanka.
Investors will gain confidence.
It will be the best destination for foreign investment like in the
1970s-1980s. Allow investment in Tamil areas too. Allow Indians to start
schools, colleges, universities.
The best is yet to come. Instead of wasting time in answering your
opponents take them on to your side to lead the nation as a united Sri
Lanka.
