Special police squad recovers stolen mobile phones

A special police squad attached to the Maradana police have recovered
several stolen Mobile telephones. The phones were stolen from passengers
travelling by train from Panadaura to Colombo and passengers who
travelled in buses from Borella junction to Colombo Fort.

The Special Police Squad deployed by Colombo DIG H.M.B. Herath have
also arrested three suspects who were alleged to have stolen the Mobile
telephones.
Some of the stolen mobile telephones were recovered from several
shops in Colombo following information provided by the suspects who are
now in custody.
These stolen Mobile telephones had been sold to these shop owners,
said Inspector Nihal Francis, OIC CDB Maradana Police.
The three suspects now in custody are from Gonawela, Kelaniya,
Kolonnawa and Maradana.
They were taken into custody by the Special Police Squad near the
Maradana Railway Station, the Police said. The Special Police Squad
consisted of Inspector Nihal Francis, OIC, CDB Maradana with SI
Wijeratne, Sergeants Ratnayake, Gunaratne, Constables Rupasinghe, and
Dissanayake attached to the Maradana Police Station.
The Special Police Squad is conducting investigations to arrest
several other suspects who are involved in the racket. |
