Navy Commander visits Aussie ship

Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe visited “HMAS Glenelg” arrived from Australia at the Colombo Port last Thursday. The patrol boat belonging to the Royal Australian Navy, arrived in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit.

The 56.45m long vessel has a displacement of 270 tons and a crew of four officers and 25 sailors.

Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Kathy Klugman was also present. The Navy Commander presented a memento to the Commanding Officer as a gesture of goodwill.

The Australian Navy vessel’s visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations of the two countries. Sri Lanka Navy arranged a special program for the crew to enhance their relations with Sri Lanka Navy personnel during their stay in Sri Lanka. “HMAS Glenelg” Commanding Officer also called on several senior officers of the Sri Lanka Navy.
