President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s victory:

People’s mandate to build flourishing Lanka

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has emerged the popular and charismatic leader at the recently concluded sixth Presidential election.

It goes without saying that he has become the uncrowned king of the people in a democratic society by securing an overwhelming majority of over 1.8 million votes, the Ashraff Congress states in a press release.

The glaring gladsome luminescence of the sun cannot be shielded off even if thousands of human hands try to cover it up. The unceasing waves of the ocean would not stop lashing, under any degree or injunction of anyone else. Such an analogy is comparable to the decisive, marvellous and splendid victory it said.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s victory can be taken as the victory of the mediocre people. It is a popular mandate willingly and spontaneously given to him, by the people, to build an economically flourishing Sri Lanka, on the base of the victory of having defeated the 30-year-old perennial terrorist war and having re-united the country; while jealously and ardently protecting the sovereignty of the country from foreign interferences.

His victory is a garland offered and endowed to him by the people, for his dynamic personality and for the efficiency of his governance. “We are glad to point out here, that the contributions of the Muslim voters toward his victory at this election are manifold.

The votes he received in some of the unsuccessful divisions and districts, in a fair sense consist nearly 50 percent of Muslim votes.

In fact, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has created a turning point in the voting pattern of the Muslims.

The greatness of President Mahinda Rajapaksa lies, in his impeccable human qualities, in tolerating and appreciating the people who voted for the opposition candidate, saying and welcoming that their participation in the election itself, is a contribution toward strengthening and upholding democracy.

The greatest expectation of the people of this country is for him to transform and translate his electoral victory into a vibrant and sustainable economy while performing the role of a guiding father and a compassionate leader of a unified country consisting of multi-ethnic societies.
