President visits Sri Maha Bodhi

President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Sri Maha Bodhiya on Saturday and participated in religious observances and offered ‘atapirikara’ to the bikkhus there. Atamasthanadhipathi Ven Pallegama Siriniwasa Thera was also present.

Buddhist monks led by Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera, Ven. Nugethenne Pannananda, Ven. Ralapanawe Dhammajothi and Ven. Eithalavetunawewa Gnanathilake chanted ‘Sethpirith’ and blessed the President on arrival at the Sri Maha Bodhi. The President also met the Buddhist devotees present there.

North Central Province Governor Karunaratne Divulgane, Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Petroleum Resources Minister Duminda Dissanayake and Nation Building Minister S.M. Chandrasena were also present.
