Businessman shot dead

A businessman was shot dead by unidentified gangsters inside his vehicle in Buttala yesterday morning, police spokesman SSP I.M. Karunaratna said. Acting on information, police found a bullet riddled body of a man inside a vehicle near the Gam Udawa roundabout in Buttala at around 6.30 am.

"The victim was a father of two and had left his home on Tuesday night," he added.

The motive of killing is not known and the suspects have not been identified. The victim was identified as Priyantha Pushpakumara, 31, a resident of Obbegoda, Moneragala.

Buttala police are investigating.
