Yoga – Part XII:
Hasthapadangustasana
Most of the yoga postures start from the
left side. However, there are some asanas start from the right. This
particular asana also has to start from the right side.:
* Stand straight while bringing both feet together.
* Look forward and breathe normally for around 10 seconds. (Picture
1)
* As shown in the picture 2 fold your right leg.
* Clutch the first toe with your right hand and lift the left hand.
* Look forward.
* As shown in the picture 3, hold the toes of the right
leg and stretch it forward.
* Now your left hand should be raised up.
* Look forward, breathe.
* Be in this position for 10 seconds.
* Practise the asana three times to the right side and three times to
the left.
Benefits of this asana
Helps increase your height.
It is beneficial to those who keep standing and seated during most of
the day.
Improves flexibility of the body.
A good exercise to ankles, knees, thighs, back and arms.
However, those who are overweight are advised to refrain
from practising this asana.
