Two die in road accidents

Two motorists died in two separate road accidents in Ja-Ela and Kochchikade areas on Monday.

A motorist died in a bus and motorcycle collision at 11th mile post in Devala Road, Ja-Ela around 12.45 p.m.

In a separate incident, another motorist was killed when his motorcycle collided with a lorry in Kochchikade on Monday afternoon.


Journalist’s book launch

Kathu Nathi Vatha, a book about 30 editors in the history of print media will be launched by Sunday Divaina journalist Tissa Gunatileke at the Library Services and Documentation Board on January 7 at 3.30 p.m.

Dedication service

The Ceylon Bible Society will celebrate the Dedication Service of 2010 at Christ Church, Mutwal, Colombo 15 on January 9 at 9.30 a.m.


Buddhist talk in English

Dr. Basil de Silva will deliver a public Buddhist talk in English on ‘Self view - Sakkaya Ditthi’ at a meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on January 9 at 4.30 p.m. at Maitri Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.


Applications entertained for national school entrance

Parents who wish to admit their children to middle classes from Grade 2 to Grade 11 (other than Grade 1, 5 and 6) at National Schools in the country can apply for the same upto January 31, a press release from the Education Ministry stated.

Applications should reach the principal of respective national school by registered post before abovementioned date. Suitable students from these applications will be selected on the basis of marks to be obtained at an interview.
