No one can prevent Fonseka's doomsday - Minister
No one will be able to prevent the doom of Sarath Fonseka on January
26, who has embarked on a journey together with the already destroyed
UNP and the JVP, Agriculture Development and Govijana Seva Minister
Maithripala Sirisena said.
He would therefore invite all grassroots members of the UNP and JVP
to be partners in the great victory of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He was addressing a meeting of SLFP supporters in Bediwewa in
Polonnaruwa. At this meeting over 300 members of the UNP and JVP
obtained SLFP membership.
The Minister said during the past 30 years, the country witnessed
massive destruction of lives. "The war not only destroyed lives. It also
destroyed people's morals and human feelings. In that whole period the
people were only exposed to guns and bullets." Therefore one of the main
aims under the next tenure of President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be to
restore human values and lost morals in addition to redeveloping the war
ravaged country."
He said Sri Lanka will need to go forward with the rest of the
developed world. While the Government waged war during the past 3 1/2
years it carried out vast development. "However we cannot be entirely
satisfied with its pace considering the disruptive climate that
prevailed. However now the government is able to carry this out with
success."
"Today opposition candidate Fonseka's campaign has failed to attract
the people. It is only propped up by certain media institutions.
