Uthuru Vasanthaya :

Nearly 400 Northern artistes to perform

Nearly 400 artistes from the Northern Province will perform at a cultural show organized by the Northern Province Governor’s office under the Uthuru Vasanthaya program at the BMICH on Wednesday, January 20, Northern Province Governor G.A. Chandrasiri said at a press conference held in Colombo yesterday.

This mega show would provide an opportunity to re-awaken the cultural and ethnic identity that was suppressed by the conflict for the last three decades.

The Northern Province which has a unique culture and traditions would bring out its creative performances he said.

The Northern Province cultural show would be a rare event since leading artistes from different parts of the country too would blend their talents with their brethren in the North at this mega show. President Mahinda Rajapaksa would participate as the Chief Guest, the Governor said. Television institutions would take this opportunity to show the cultural program to the world which is a unique event for them as well, he noted.
