Chinthana and Nadini best lifters

Chinthana Vidanage of Polonnaruwa Weightlifting Club and Nadini Gunasekera of YMCA were adjudged the most Outstanding men’s and women’s weightlifters in the 14th Senior National Weightlifting Championship and 9th Senior Women’s National Weightlifting Championship which concluded at Kelaniya University Gymnasium.

Sri Lanka Air Force clinched the Men’s Overall Championship and Sri Lanka Navy won the Women’s Overall Championship.

Manjula Wijeratne of Sri Lanka Air Force (105 kg category) established two Sri Lanka records, (total 300 kg) Chinthana Vidanage (69 kg category) total 289 kg and Kamal Bandara also from Air Force (56 kg category) total 136kg established Sri Lanka records each.

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Chinthana Vidyanage is our main medal hope for the upcoming South Asian Games, (Bangladesh), Asian Games (China) and Commonwealth Games New Delhi - India.
