IPS stresses need for ‘National Agenda’

Climate change is a complex challenge. The study conducted by the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) has stressed the need for a ‘National Agenda’ to face this complex challenge. The country is likely to face the impact in six major areas of critical importance - agriculture and irrigation, coastal zone, forests and natural eco-systems, human settlements and infrastructure, human health, and energy and industry, said IPS Executive Director Dr. Saman Kelegama.

Marked increase in November tea production

A report from the Sri Lanka Tea Board said that the total reported production of tea in Sri Lanka during November 2009 amounted to 28,290,976 kg as against 24,830,727 kg produced during the corresponding month in 2008. This shows an increase of a 13 percent amounting to 3,460,249 kg.
