Applications for posts of Aesthetic teachers:

Closing date extended

The closing date for receiving applications for the posts of teachers of aesthetic subjects in government schools has been extended up to January 31, 2010, the Education Ministry said in a press release yesterday.

The earlier closing date was fixed for December 4. The Ministry said there were 3,174 vacancies for aesthetic teachers in government schools and Cabinet approval was obtained by Education Minister Susil Premajayantha to fill those vacancies.

There were also vacancies in the schools under the purview of the Provincial Councils and the Ministry had directed the provincial secretaries to publish advertisements in the newspapers calling for applications to select aesthetics teacher for these vacancies.

However, if the number of applicants did not exceed the 3,174 vacancies, applicants would be selected after an interview. If there were more applicants than the number of vacancies an open competitive examination will be held and selection made on the results of the examination, the Ministry said.
