Attack on journalists' condemned

Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa of the Kelaniya University Mass Communication Department condemned with abhorrence the attacks made on journalists and Media institutions by the UNP and JVP in recent times.

He said these intimidatory tactics are not new to the two parties which were famous for their oppression during the Sordid 1988 - 99 period.

Attacks on journalists is a threat to democracy and these acts of thuggery perpetrated by the UNP and JVP was a prior warning for people about what would be in store for them if they came to power.
