Special budget pack for festive season

The Government will provide a special budget pack for consumers during the festive season on President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s directive.

The Government decided to provide the special budget pack for consumers at Rs 490. Its market value is Rs 765. The pack includes one kilogram of rice, a kilogram of dhal, a kilogram of sugar, 500 grams of gram and a tin of canned fish.

A token of the special budget pack was handed over to President Rajapaksa by Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Affairs Minister Bandula Gunawardane at Temple Trees yesterday.

Minister Gunawardane said the pack which was introduced by the State Trading Corporation is available at Lak Sathosa, Co-operative shops, Special Economic Centres, Welfare Centers and retail shops.

Export Development and International Trade Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and Finance Ministry Secretary Dr.P.B. Jayasundara were present.
