President outlines his politics:

My country before myself


President Mahinda Rajapaksa enunciating his politics said his policy was ‘My country before myself’. He exhorted all Sri Lankans to put country before self saying only those who truly love their Motherland will be infused with a sense of responsibility and belonging towards their Motherland.

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake yesterday told parliament that all assets including gold found from the possession of the LTTE are owned by the people of the country and they would be made use of towards the development of the country.

Govt resettlement program satisfactory - Robert Blake

IDPs down to 94,000:


United States Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia and Central Asia and former US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Robert Blake expressed satisfaction with the Government's resettlement program now under way and the new freedom of movement allowed. He said he was pleased with the mine risk education being given to students.

Temporary ID cards valid for Presidential polls


The temporary identity cards issued for voters at the recently concluded provincial council elections are valid for the forthcoming Presidential Polls as well, elections authorities said.
