It is with horror I understand that last week's Random Muse refers to
renowned columnist Indeewara Thilakaratne. As for our understanding, he
writes flawless English, and thousand times better than Random Muse
writer. We see no fallacy in Thilakaratne's column calling a certain
translator by semi-literate nanny. Anyone has right to express their
views.
It is clearly observed that Random Muse writer has vicious attitudes
about the renowned columnist. To us it seems a personal agenda, which is
very much vicious. When he says there should be a limit to insults, he
goes against his own views. He seems to be caught in his own trap.
The writer who claims himself a columnist not only muddles up
attacking Indeewara Thilakaratne, he goes on to fields which he is not
familiar with. He doesn't like Tilakaratne to call Sri Lankan English, a
sub standard version of English. Our problem is what does Random Muse
writer know about Sri Lankan English? Has he written a single article
about Sri Lankan English ever before rather than jotting down some sick
thoughts every week and call it a column?
Writers should know his limits or size when they attack learned
scribes publicly. |
