He was given a rousing welcome by Minister Thondaman and Livestock Development Minister C.B. Ratnayake.

CWC Leader Minister Thondaman also brought local leaders of many political parties, said that the upcountry people were united in their support of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and they would vote for the President at the forthcoming Presidential poll.

He said the plantation people were aware of the immense development measures adopted by the President like building roads with concrete surfaces, housing, education, health and other infrastructure facilities as well as employment for the plantation youth. Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa in reply said it was the policy of President Rajapaksa to serve all sections of the people and he was keen to serve the plantation people who had remained a neglected lot before.
