Prelate disappointed with Fonseka's entry into politics


I believed that Sarath Fonseka who had rendered a valuable service to the nation would spend his time at leisure after retirement but I am disappointed that he had instead taken to politics, Asgiriya Chapter Prelate Most Ven Udugama Sri Buddhrakkhita Maha Nayake Thera said. The Prelate made this observation when Sarath Fonseka met him at the Asgiriya Temple, Kandy yesterday.

UNF partner to contest separately


National Defence Front leader Ashoka Suraweera who was placed fourth at the last Presidential Election told the Daily News yesterday that his political party aligned with the UNP-led National Freedom Front would withdraw from it and that he would be contesting the election as a candidate without affiliation to any other party.
