Ex-sailors house burgled

Madampe Police has launched an inquiry in to a complaint lodged by a retired Navy Officer alleging that his house had been robbed in his absence with gold jewelery and money worth of Rs.130,000 being stolen.

In his complaint to the Police the retired Naval officer has stated that the robbers had entered the house at a time when he was visiting his daughters residence in Negombo.

He has also alleged that when he returned he had seen a gaping hole in the roof believed to be the entry point of the robbers and had subsequently found that money amounting to Rs.5000 and jewelery worth Rs.125,000 had gone missing. Madampe Police is continuing investigations.
