‘Goodwill Hardware’
Koralegedara Pushpakumara’s latest show ‘Goodwill Hardware’ at the
Theertha Red Dot Gallery, brings a novel experience to the Sri Lankan
art scene.
It is very interesting to see how Pushpakumara has used hardware
material to speak in his art works. Barb wire inside transparent tubes,
barrier tape, tent material, metal chains, nails etc. bring beauty into
his works contrasting the resent calamities and atrocities that the
materials and the works points to.
Pushpakumara has participated in exhibitions, workshops and
residences internationally as well as locally since 1997. Being a member
of the Theertha International Artists’ Collective, currently he is
involved in several community art projects in rural areas of Sri Lanka.
This exhibition is the second exhibition of the third Theerta
Exhibition Season (aka Theertha Pradarshana Wasanthaya).
The exhibition started on November 14 and will remain open till
December 7. It is open to the public Monday to Wednesday from 10.30 a.m.
to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. |
