Six injured in shooting

Six persons were injured in a shooting incident in Dahaiyyagama
junction, Anuradhapura on Sunday night. One person has been admitted to
the hospital in a critical condition. Police spokesman SSP I. M
Karunaratna said "a clash between two groups in Dahaiyyagama junction
led to the shooting incident. "An armed group fired at the other group
leaving at least six injured," Karunaratne said.
The five injured persons were admitted to the Anuradhapura hospital
while the critically injured person has been transferred to the Kandy
hospital.
He said the suspects were not identified. As they have been firing
from hiding. "Police recovered a hand grenade and a pistol from the
vicinity. The Army bomb disposal squad has defused the hand grenade," he
added.
It was believed that a personal dispute between two persons led to
the shooting.
Two special police teams from Anuradhapura are investigating. |
