Proper political leadership helped win war - Media Minister

No war in the world has been won without proper political leadership, said Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana.

Minister Abeywardana said while participating in an awareness program for journalists regarding development activities conducted in the Anuradhapura district. Great achievements can be made through a proper political leadership. Sri Lanka is no exception in this respect. If not for the ideal and proper leadership of the President, the humanitarian mission could never have been accomplished, Minister Abeywardana added.

The proper political leadership given by the President as a patriotic leader of the country is the main reason for the present peaceful situation in the country. That is why LTTE terrorism which dragged on for three decades could be eradicated within a mere three years.

Although, four previous Presidents had been engaged in the war against LTTE terrorism for many years, none of them could bring eternal peace to the country by defeating the LTTE. President Mahinda Rajapaksa has reunited the country under one flag through proper guidance and unique political leadership.
