IDPs to be resettled by January 31

All civilians in welfare centres will be resettled in their original dwellings by January 31, Senior Presidential Advisor MP Basil Rajapaksa said in a statement.

He made this special announcement as the Head of the Uthuru Vasanthaya Presidential Task Force, after meeting civilians in welfare centres of the Menik Farm, Settikulam and Vavuniya on Friday.

In addition, the Government has decided to grant Rs. 50,000 to each family who will be resettled doubling the sum hitherto received by these families. The welfare centres will be made open villages from December 1 enabling the civilians the freedom to leave and enter these centres without hindrance.

MP Rajapaksa said in addition to the activities carried out under 180 day accelerated Uthuru Vasanthaya program under the directions of the President, a host of other development programs are being implemented in the North.
