Fruits of development for all communities:

Villagers rallying round President

The Government under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa has launched systematic program of development so that all communities will be able to reap the fruits of development. This has resulted in the elimination of poverty and there are signs of development in all the provinces, Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said at a public meeting at Thalawathugoda recently.

Development activities which were earlier confined to cities have now reached the villages in the slogan Kolombata Kiri Gamata Kakiri has now become an obsolete word. Our Government's promise to develop the village has now become a reality. In these circumstances, the villagers are beginning to rally round the Government. Their strength will definitely ensure a landslide victory for the Government at future elections, the Minister said.

It is an open secret today that several vicious elements are hell-bent on destabilising this Government.

However, the people are well-aware of this and they are determined to strengthen the hands of the President by casting their votes for him in gratitude for his unique service to the country. Our people are also intelligent enough not to forget the beeshanaya during 1989/1990 period. The machinations of the UNP to fool the masses will be defeated.

This Government is committed to real work. Also the people want a society free from tension and terrorism. The Government has fulfilled all these in the recent past. Therefore whoever be the presidential candidate, the support built around the President can never be shaken, the Minister said.
