Independence celebrations in Kandy

The Government has decided to hold the 62nd National Independence Day celebrations in Kandy.

The event is to be held on a grand scale depicting the historical grandeur of Kandy featuring the creations of the Kandyan artisans. It being planned to hold the event either at the Sri Dalada Maligawa Square or in the area close to the new highway in Gannoruwa. An inspection to chose an appropriate site was carried out by Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration D. Dissanayake yesterday.
