National Healthcare Exhibition Medicare 2010

Sri Lankan professionals are more equipped:

With the dawn of peace, a new chapter in Sri Lanka's future will mark the turning point of the local health sector which will play a pivotal role in determining the country's progress.

The Ministry of Health and Nutrition together with specialist medical associations will hold a national healthcare exhibition called 'MEDICARE 2010'.

The exhibition with 160 stalls in the medical sector will educate the public on how Sri Lanka's health sector is on par with international standards. The 'Medicare 2010' will be held from March 5-7 at the BMICH.

The Chairman of the organizing committee Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva, said that Sri Lanka is on the way to become a trusted medical healthcare destination. He said, "Today's Sri Lankan professionals are more equipped to face the challenges of the health sector and are becoming more experienced in tackling medical cases." He said that 'Medicare 2010' will have two functions which will be a meeting place for products and services and a platform for healthcare awareness for the public.

"These aims will culminate in two symposiums that will have a session where medical experts can exchange ideas between each other and also a session where these experts can enlighten the public on the medical advances of the recent times."

The 'Medicare 2010' exhibition will feature the best medical expertise under one roof which will be a one-stop shop for all health concerns. "It is surprising that the public do not even know that we have the latest technologies to help them in their ailments as they still think we use age-old treatment without updating ourselves.

We aim to change the misconception of our citizens seeking treatment abroad bypassing our experts for minor ailments. We are in a position to attract patients from even the west since our costs are a fraction of what over there.

In addition, 'Medicare 2010' will unveil a Healthcare Exhibition that is geared to educate people on the state-of-the-art healthcare technology, proper disease prevention methodologies, the recent changes in the health sector, effective treatment methods, the best services available in hospitals and laboratories.

The organizers will ensure that a suitable standard is maintained so that every deserving exhibitor gets a place and screening will be done to carefully select exhibitors suitable for such an event.

"We will categorize every exhibitor according to their specialization and we will streamline the exhibition, so that any visitor can find the best solution to their health requirement" said Dr. De Silva.
