ODEL wins two top awards at 'Best Web' awards

ODEL CEO Otara Gunewardene receives the award for the award for best e-commerce website

Efforts by ODEL to extend its shopping experience to cyberspace have won Sri Lanka's definitive fashion and lifestyle chain two top awards at the annual 'Best Web' Awards conducted by the LK Domain Registry Office.

The ODEL website www.odel.lk was adjudged 'Best e-commerce website' and 'Best Website Design and Content' at the gala awards at the Waters Edge recently in a competition at which websites of more than 125 Sri Lankan companies and organizations competed.

The website was also among the top five in the 'Most Favourite Sri Lankan Website' competition judged on the popular vote.

Leading contenders in the two categories in which ODEL took the top awards included the websites of the Keells Supermarket chain, Singer Sri Lanka, the Sri Lankan Parliament and the Railway Museum.

The ODEL website was launched nearly three years ago and was intended to be a microcosm of the flagship store at Alexandra Place. With new products added on every week, the site consistently offers something new to choose from.

Its versatile design entices visitors to purchase any product with relative ease, with the guarantee that all transactions are 100 percent secure.

The website processes a significant volume of online purchases from overseas customers, and receives an average of over 450 hits per day.
