Diving star Julianne wins again
Julianne Fernando, a promising diving star, a product of Good
Shepherd Convent, Kotahena added another credit to her career when she
emerged as joint champion at the Junior National Aquatic Championship
2009 which concluded at the Sugathadasa Diving Pool recently.

She also won the gold medal for three metre spring board diving and
silver medal in the one metre spring board diving event. Well aided by
her two medals, her school was able to win the Junior National Diving
Championship this year.
So far she has won three gold medals, competing under the girls
under-13 age category at the Sri Lanka Public Schools Swimming and
Diving Championships which was held in June. She was adjudged the girls
champion in her age group at the same meet.
At the recently concluded 35th National Age Group Swimming and Diving
Championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union, she was
able to bag two gold and a silver in the girls under 14 category where
she was adjudged the girls champion in her age group. She is currently
trained by Chanaka Wickramasinghe of SL Navy. |
