Five State drug suppliers banned for two years

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said that the Ministry has stopped using injections, saline and other drugs supplied by the companies which provided unsafe injections, saline and other drugs to Sri Lanka.

Permanency from Nov 1

Forces, pensioners get increased allowances:

Public servants including temporary employees will benefit by decisions made by the Government to grant permanent status to those still serving in temporary or casual capacities. There will also be an increase in allowances for the armed forces, public servants and pensioners.

Novel Influenza (A H1N1) threat:

Kandy schools close from Monday

In view of the fast spreading new influenza viral fever in the Central Province, the Government has decided to close down all schools in the province from November 23. This decision follows a meeting Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa had on Thursday with the Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, health officials and education authorities in the province.

Japan-Sri Lanka Business Co-operation Community Chairman, Sumitaka Fujitha said the 15th joint meeting of the Sri Lanka-Japan and Japan-Sri Lanka Business Co-operation Committee has given rise to several bilateral economic agreements that could promote and strengthen relations between the two countries for further growth in many potential sectors.
