Over 100 UNP women activists join Govt

Over 100 party activists who represented UNP women’s branches of Yatinuwara electorate obtained SLFP membership from Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa at a SLFP meeting at Sri Suvi Suddharama Viharaya, Menikdiwela on Thursday.

This occasion also marked the completion of the fourth year in office of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

This group of former UNP women activists were led by Thilaka Jayasinghe and Kalyanee Liyanage who held offices as President and Secretary of Lakwanitha Women’s organization, Dippitigoda, Yatinuwara.

These women activists said President Rajapaksa who totally eliminated terrorism from Sri Lanka could not be defeated by any candidate from any alliance formed by UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and added they would join hands with the President and work towards the country’s development.
