Australian MPs commend healthcare service

A team of Australian MPs from Victoria State who are now in Sri Lanka on an inspection tour have highly commended the Government for providing a quality healthcare service to the public free of charge for the past 60 years, a Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry spokesman said.

The Australian team of MPs from Victoria State now in Sri Lanka met Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva recently.

He said that the team of MPs will inspect the ongoing constructions of Sri Lanka - Victoria Emergency Neurotroma Centre to be built at the Karapitiya hospital at a cost of Rs.450 million.

The team of MPs inquired from Minister De Silva how the Government successfully provides free healthcare to the Sri Lankan public.

Minister De Silva pointed out to them that the Sri Lankan Government has been providing quality free healthcare for the Sri Lankan public, and even foreigners visiting Sri Lanka.

Minister of Parliament and State Member of Essendon, Judy Maddigan, Member for Western Metropolitan Region Khalil Eidech and Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs Liz Beattie are among the team of Australian MPs from the Victoria State.
