The National Quality Awards 2009 will help organizations to enhance
their productivity and quality on manufacturing and services among the
fellow competitors, said the Science and Technology Minister, Prof.
Tissa Vitarana at the National Quality Awards Ceremony. Prime Minister
Ratnasiri Wickramanayake was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
The Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC),
Managing Director Hemantha Jayanetti and Group Managing
Director Capt. Ajith Peiris, receiving the National Quality

It will help to enhance the organizations and product quality
resulting in increased productivity and staff satisfaction. It is
expected to motivate companies not in terms of establishment as well as
competitiveness for better products.
A rigid criterion is maintained in awarding the National Quality
Award for public and private institutions depending on four award
categories such as Manufacturing, Services, Healthcare and Education, he
said.
The Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC)
and Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd won the National Quality Award for Education-
Medium scale and Service-Large scale respectively.
The Department of Motor Traffic (Service-large scale), National
Institute of Business Management (Education-Medium scale), Lanka
Walltile Meepe (Pvt) Ltd (Manufacturing- Medium scale) and Dickoya Tea
Factory (Manufacturing- Medium scale) won merit awards at the award
ceremony. Associated CEAT (Pvt) Limited (Manufacturing-large scale),
Colombo Divisional Secretariat (Service-Medium scale), Raja Jewellers (Pvt)
Ltd (Manufacturing-small scale) won certificates of Commendation at the
award ceremony. |
