AIS-CIS clash in Girls under 19 final

Asian International School and Colombo International School girls will play each other in the finals of the under 19 International Schools basketball tournament organized by The British School. In the semi finals AIS had sweet revenge over Gateway College when they beat them 23-12. The score at half time was 13-12 in favour of AIS. For AIS Isurika Pathirana (7) and Anaan Anil (6) were the highest scorers while for the losers Judith (4) and Chamathka (4) top scored. In the other one sided CIS vs Lyceum Nugegoda girls semi final CIS (35) beat Lyceum Nugegoda (10). Onella Karunanayake (15) and Mineli Siriwardene (14) excelled for the winners while Melissa (6) top scored for the losers.

In the boys section - Lyceum Nugegoda boys entered the finals by beating Gateway College 75-48 in a very easy game yesterday.

Rumesh Senanayake (27), Lumal Soysa (15), Angelo Jayasinghe (15) top scored for the winners and Ricardo Fernando (16), Danushka Gunasekara (13), Janith Fernando (13) top scored for Gateway.

In the really exciting second boys semi finals - Asian International School vs Colombo International School - while the audience watched with bated breath, the lead kept fluctuating until half time - when it was discovered that one of the rings had broken and the match has been postponed to today.
