War heroes receive lands in Kadawatha

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa directed Army officers who
received blocks of land in Kadawatha to use vehicles and other
facilities of the Defence Ministry to clear and construct roads in their
lands.

Defence Ministry under the patronage of the Defence Secretary the
Army officers who fought in the battle against terrorism received
10-perch of land each from the Government at Kadawatha to build their
houses.
After handing over the deeds, Defence Secretary Rajapaksa directed
them to use the vehicles and other facilities of Defence Ministry to
clear the land blocks and construct roads to each block of land.
He also requested them to fill an application form to obtain a soft
loan to put up their houses. “We will assist you to build your houses on
these lands.”
Additional Defence Secretary Willi Gamage said the Government has
built 1,792 houses for the war heroes apart from 1,509 houses under
Janapura Village scheme. Another 4,117 houses are to be constructed in
the Gintota Housing Scheme.
“The Government has allocated Rs. 200 million as a fund for soft
loans to the war heroes to build and upgrade their houses,” he added.
He also said another 143 houses were given as a donation to the war
heroes. |
