Ex-combatants transformed by rehab program

The Government's rehabilitation program had succeeded in changing the attitudes of former combatants who came with fear for their lives. Now they are 200 percent sure about the security of their lives, said the Rehabilitation Commissioner Daya Ratnayake at a press conference yesterday at the Media Ministry. There are 11,000 LTTE cadres in 17 rehabilitation centres. Most of these centres were established in Vavuniya.

The Government's plan is to rehabilitate these LTTE cadres and make them useful citizens of the country.
