The 2009 Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP)
held recently at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre, has been
the only State-level international talent exchange conference in China.
More than 1,000 organisations of experts and overseas training
representing 40 countries and regions as well as some 4,300 Chinese
government agencies and enterprises attended the conference, which
yielded more than 5,000 pieces of high-tech resources outcome. It
attracted 80,000 visitors with the signing of 17 foreign talent exchange
agreements.
A string of glitzy figures has given an eloquent proof that CIEP has
upgraded its growing influence and truly become a platform of vital
importance to attract the best talents around the world.
In order to pool the global intelligence and promote common
development, the China International Talent Exchange Conference has,
since its inception in 2001, played a crucial role in upgrading China's
independent innovation capacity and building an innovative nation for
the purpose of conducting active exploration and bold innovations.
To compare with any previous session, the conference this year is
more specialized, high-ended and upgraded with international standards,
and its scale and function continue to expand. While perambulating in
nine major exhibition halls, the reporter became more aware of needs and
aspirations of enterprise for the high-ended talents. The Netherlands'
senior expert organization, the Europe's largest service to send senior
professionals to aid small and medium-scale enterprises in developing
nations, received 100 business cards and expert request forms in less
than an hour after the opening of the conference.
A constant flow of people was seen flocking to the booth of the
German Senior Expert Service (SES), and the booth on the very first day
received more than 350 copies of request forms. Ni Nam, who was in
charge of the SES China Project, noted SES had cooperated with China for
26 full years and that China's first appointment of a "foreign expert"
from Germany, Willner Gehrig, was through SES, which introduced him to
work in the famous Wuhan Machine Tool Plant in early 1980s. Gehrig
performed his job with flying colours and became famous for
reinvigorating the plant.
