Indices end mixed

Strategic stakes in the Commercial Bank changing hands boosted turnover to almost a billion rupees on a day which saw the indices end mixed. Commercial Bank voting shares saw 5 crossings totalling 3.5 million shares change hands at Rs 177.00 boosting turnover by Rs 620 million. Total turnover for the day was Rs 958 million.

Commercial Bank voting ended the day at Rs 176.00, up 25 cents for the day, while its non voting shares gained Rs 2.00 to close at Rs 119.00 on turnover of Rs 1.4 million. Chevron Lubricants closed up Rs 3.75 to Rs 207.75 on turnover of Rs 75 million. Of the large cap companies, John Keells Holdings was up by 50 cents to close at Rs 143.75, Dialog Telecom was down 25 cents to close at Rs 7.25 and Sri Lanka Telecom was unchanged at Rs 43.00.

Asian markets were mixed once more with India and China up by 0.1 percent, Singapore and Japan down by 1 percent and Hong Kong down by 0.1 percent.
