Israel raids West Bank, demolishes homes

West bank: The Israeli occupation forces arrested 14 people in several cities and hamlets in the West Bank, while the Jerusalem Municipality threatened on Monday to demolish the headquarters of a Palestinian women's organization.

WAFA and Ma'an news agencies reported the operation launched by Israeli troops from Sunday night until Monday morning, in Jenin, Belen, Hebron, and Al-Khalil localities and headquarters of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).

Sources said the detainees were taken out of their homes to an unknown place for interrogation, and accused of hostile activities, as Israel defined the actions opposing its permanent occupation of those Arab territories. Many Israeli troops went into a neighbourhood, East from Al-Matahin area, and started to shoot electricity pylons, while ordering neighbours to leave their homes and questioned them for several hours outside, WAFA said.

The Palestinian Police press office in the West Bank confirmed that Israeli troops carried out raids on Monday in several areas in Jenin, opened fire indiscriminately, burst into some houses and arrested three Fahma hamlet's residents. Israeli authorities in Jerusalem also handed over a demolition notice at the (Arab) Women's Association's Headquarters, arguing that the 1,076 square feet of that immovable asset were built without licence. The women's association's Executive official Wafa'a At-Taweel said they started this year to render a great variety of services to women and children in rehabilitation and culture, and those activities will be cancelled if the building is destroyed.

At least 100 Palestinian houses have already been marked to be destroyed in Silwan area, the source said. Ramallah, Prensa Latina
