Murder suspect arrested

Police arrested an alleged murderer and robber along with arms and a Police uniform in Makandana, Piliyandala on Sunday evening.

The suspect is wanted in connection with shooting and stabbing to death a bank manager. He was arrested at the Makandana road block in Piliyandala at around 4.00 pm, Police Spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said.

"The suspect was wanted for many crimes including killings and robberies," he added.

The suspect was arrested when his vehicle was stopped at the road block for a search.

Police recovered arms and police uniforms from his vehicle. "A repeater gun, five magazines, a micro pistol, two police investigator uniforms, a helmet bearing the Police emblem and a blue Police sticker," the SDIG said.
