CSE turnover gets boost
Turnover at the Colombo Stock Exchange got a boost from a three
million share of JKH crossing at Rs. 139.25 pushing the turnover in the
company’s shares to Rs. 84 million. JKH closed the day unchanged from
Monday’s close at Rs. 137.00.
Total turnover for yesterday was Rs. 829 million in what was a
slow-day of trading. Colombo Dockyards saw Rs. 89 million of business
with Rs. 87.5 million coming from a single transaction of 500,000 shares
which crossed at Rs. 175.00.
Overall the market had a bearish trend with the ASPI losing 40 points
in mid-day, but regained some ground on late buying coming into blue
chip companies. At the end of the day the broader ASPI closed down 24
points (-0.8 percent) at 2,844 while the more sensitive MPI closed down
17 points (-0.5 percent) to 3,198.
Of the large cap stocks, Sri Lanka Telecom closed down Rs. 1.25 to Rs.
41.50, Dialog Telekom lost 25 cents to Rs. 6.75 and Commercial Bank lost
50 cents to Rs. 168.50.
